Top Interview Questions and Answers For Freshers

Question 1: Tell Me Something About Yourself.

Answer- This question is your ice-breaker! The interviewer would like to know more about you beyond your resume. In short, it should be a precise and brief summary of your background. Indulge in your strengths and specifics. Do not narrate your resume.
Example: Good Morning. My name is Ramesh Singhi and I am a CSE graduate with an internship experience in Tech Maintenance & Support. I completed my education from ( name of school and college) with the year. I want to be a part of this Industry and have skills in SQL, JavaScript (list the rest). I want to pursue a career path that will optimize the skills I have learnt and evolve as a successful professional in the long run.

Question 2- Why should we hire you? OR Why Should I Choose You?

Answer- This question is best interpreted as how do you consider yourself fit for this industry? You should not compare yourself to other candidates you do not know. The answer should convince the interviewer that you are the right candidate for the job. The interviewer might have focused only on one of your skills. While answering this question you may highlight the other attributes you have.

Question 3- What Are Your Strengths?

Answer- Here you should answer this question with examples from the past. For instance, if you say you are a good problem solver, ensure you refer to an incident in the past where you had effectively resolved a key issue in a project or internship. The trick here is not to brag about yourself. Be precise and specific.
Example: My key strengths are I am hardworking, flexible, a good team player, punctual, focused and keen to learn and pick up new skills to attain the organization’s goals. I also have good interpersonal skills to maintain healthy relationships and rapport with everyone I work with.

Question 4- What Are Your Greatest Weaknesses? OR How Can You Improve Yourself?

Answer- Nearly all freshers are asked this question in an interview. You should choose a weakness that is really a strength in disguise. Pick a weakness that your work needs and use it to become your biggest strength.
Example: I get so deeply involved with the work that I lose track of time. When I look up I find everyone has left. I am focused on my work and love it, however, I should be more mindful and keep an eye on the clock.

Question 5- Where Do You See Yourself 5 Years From Now? OR Where Do You See Yourself 10 Years From Now?

Answer- This is one of the top interview questions for freshers. Candidates often answer this question in two ways. They either show their great ambition by saying “ I want this job” or they are too humble saying “ I know there are other eligible candidates for the post, however, I want to know where my talents take me and whether I will be successful or not in the coming 5 years” Interview consultants say both are not the right attitude or approach!
Begin with the conversational approach and list your hopes and dreams. The following illustration will help you frame your answer as per the interview
Example: I am determined to work with the best industry professionals and optimize skills I learn in the best way to attain company goals. 5 years from now I see myself in a responsible managerial position demonstrating my leadership skills in the organization.

Question 6: Why Do You Want This Job?

Answer- Do not just talk about the company. Go deeper and tell your interviewer about how the organization is ideal for you to accomplish your career goals now and in the future. Talk about what you wish to accomplish both in the short and long-run as a professional and match it to the organization who is interviewing you.

Question 7: What Is Your Biggest Achievement?

Answer- This answer must be relevant to the job you are applying for. You may talk about an achievement in a project or an internship that earned you recognition as a fresher in the organization you served.

Question 8: How Will You Manage a Difficult Co-worker/ Customer?

Answer- Conflict in an organization does take place and it is here that your interviewer will test your interpersonal skills. List your strengths in listening, being patient, not reacting or getting personal when it comes to conflict. Avoid the blame game and get to the root of the conflict.

Question 9: What Is Your Dream Job?

Answer: No company is looking for a “forever” employee! However, here state what you expect to learn from the current organization and how it can help you bag the job or even the business you plan to do someday. Ensure that the skills you bag in this organization will contribute to your dream job one day.

Question 10: What Kind of Work Do You Like the Best?

Answer -Here do not stick to one specific task. Organizations are looking for adaptable and flexible employees who are ready and willing to do any kind of work in the company in attaining organizational goals. Be open and honest. Research the key responsibilities that are needed for the post you are applying for and frame your answer accordingly.

The above questions are the top interview questions and answers for freshers keen to join their first jobs. Practice speaking skills and work on your professional grooming as well. On the day of the interview, reach the venue before time and remain calm. Keep this list with you and practice before you become perfect. Do not panic or stress yourself out. Every experience is a new one for you so all the best!
